Ellesmere Neighbourhood Connect Scheme

If you need a neighbourly hand our volunteers can offer the following:

  • Practical help in a crisis
  • Information on useful Organisations & Services
  • Telephone Club
  • Shopping for you, or taking you shopping
  • Emergency baby-sitting, and emergency pet-sitting
  • Odd jobs in the garden, and small jobs around the house
  • Assembling Flat Pack Furniture
  • Whatever you need, try us- we may be able to help.

Ellesmere Carers Support Group
Meet at ELLESMERE TOWN HALL from 11am - 1pm on the 2nd Tuesday of every month
All Carers are welcome
Do you care for someone at home? If you care for a friend, neighbour, partner or family member then you are a Carer. Shropshire Carers offer support, information and an opportunity to come together for a cuppa and time to relax.

Mere Ambles Ellesmere
All walks start at 10.00am every Wednesday from The Wharf
For healthy walking and getting fit
Even if you do little or no physical activity, just starting to do a little more each week will improve your health.

A great starting point would be to go along to one of the Mere Amble health walks. The walks are aimed at people who do little or no physical activity, but would like to make a start to change their lifestyle. The walk is lead at a pace to suit you, so there is no need to worry that you 
won’t keep up.

Ellesmere Diabetic Support Group
The Comrades Club from 10.30.to 11.30 on a Wednesday
The next meetings are set for the 23rd March, 11th May, 13th July (Coffee morning at Lilac Cottage, Criftins), 7th September and the 2nd November
The diabetic support group held its inaugural meeting in September 2005. The group continue to meet every six to eight weeks.

The group operates in a very informal manner with an opportunity for a chat and occasionally a guest speaker is invited.

Ellesmere Extend group (Age 60+)
Ellesmere Methodist Church, every Thursday 11.15am – 12.15pm
£3.00 per session.
A gentle form of exercise and movement to music, for people over 60 and those of limited mobility.

The classes are run by a qualified Extend teacher and are open to everyone who would like to turn up, join in and have some fun!
